FINE-NEEDLE
ASPIRATION BIOPSY-WHEN IS IT INDICATED IN PRACTICE?
Guidelines
and clinical practice patterns regarding indications for FNA biopsy in patients
with incidental thyroid nodules (ITNs) vary. Most clinicians, however,
recommend FNA biopsy for any solid or hypoechoic nodule > 10 mm in diameter
or when there are suspicious clinical or sonographic features (presented in the
attached table), regardless of nodule’ size.
