THYROID CANCER MORTLITY BY AGE

Thyroid cancer (TC) mortality is closely related to age. The highest TC mortality is observed in older people. Almost 6 in 10 (55 %) deaths from TC occur in patients > 75-yrs old, reflecting the higher incidence and lower survival in older people. Age-specific mortality increases sharply from 40-45 years and more steeply from 60-64 years, with highest rates observed in patients aged > 85 yrs.
